Dragon Quest
In Japan, from Dragon Quest IV onwards, games in the series had to be released on Saturdays rather than on weekdays. The RPG series, with its Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball) art and rock-solid turn-based combat, was so popular that if it released on a weekday, too many of its fans would skip school or work to take it home and start playing right away. The series, formerly known as Dragon Warrior outside Japan, remains one of the best JRPG series out there – and the recently released Dragon Quest XI: Definitive Edition is an incredible way to spend 100 hours.
