1993’s Doom is one of the most important FPS games of all time, a pioneering shareware title (the first episode was free) that changed the genre with its intense demon battles and labyrinthine level structures. Amazingly, despite everything that has changed in the years since, Doom holds up very well today, and new level packs continue to be released. The series has grown and expanded over the years, from the refinements of Doom 2 to the horror elements of Doom 3, right through to the focused violence and improved storytelling of Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal. Just don’t watch the movie, okay?
