Wonder Boy
The long-running Wonder Boy series has switched gameplay genres and art styles between releases, but they've always been great fun. The first game gave Wonder Boy a hatchet and a skateboard to zip and chop through levels with; in later entries, the boy became a more traditional hero, but the games remained cool. Several older entries have received remakes with stunning HD graphics in recent years.
