Alpha Denshi's 1990 side-scrolling action game might not be a household name, but it's definitely one of the coolest games of its time. The arcade classic sees players tackling a combination of linear and maze-like levels as the titular magician lord, Elta, who can transform between multiple different forms. It's a visually gorgeous game that was too powerful for consoles at the time, so if you want to play it, look for an arcade-perfect port.
