Banjo-Kazooie
In 1998, at the absolute height of its powers, developer Rare released what would go on to become one of the Nintendo 64’s most iconic games. Banjo-Kazooie stars Banjo the bear and his bird pal Kazooie, who lives in his backpack. Their first outing felt like Super Mario 64 with better graphics and a sharp sense of British wit, a game that is remembered and beloved for its beautiful, colourful levels, amazing hub world, and rock-hard final boss. Sequels and spin-offs followed, including the underrated vehicle-building game Nuts ‘n Bolts, and the iconic pair was seen most recently in 2019’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
