The famous Contra code (also known as the Konami Code) was created by Kazuhisa Hashimoto who developed the home version of the game on the Nintendo Entertainment system in 1986. He found the game too difficult to play during testing and created the code to start the game with 30 lives, instead of the usual 3. The code was still present after the game was released as Hashimoto forgot to remove it. Players soon discovered it and shared it by word of mouth.
Hand drawn initially and then illustrated digitally, Design Different has created an elegant, minimalist artwork to celebrate what is possibly the most famous video game cheat code of all time.
