The original Doom is forever immortalised for popularising the first-person shooter allowing players to walk around dark corridors and blast at pixelated demons using the BFG. Doom was violent, socially irresponsible, addictive and an incredible amount of fun.
The Art of Doom is the licensed art book for Id Software’s remake of their pioneering game. If you haven’t played it yourself, the remake is an extraordinarily fun and fast-paced experience which successfully captures the magic of the original. A lot of thought and care went into the remake and this book gives a glimpse into the development process.
There is a massive collection of the concept art and digital mock-ups from the environment design to the weapons and costumes for the UAC personnel. Not forgetting the countless monsters and demons which players will appreciate such as the Baron of Hell, the Revenant, Mancubus, Hell Knight and Cacodemon. All presented in Lovecraftian horror style.
The material in the book may not be suitable for young children.
