Space Invaders is probably one of the most iconic classic arcade video games of all time. Developed in 1978, it was one of the earliest shooting games with the aim being to defeat waves of aliens with a laser cannon to earn as many points as possible.
It was one of the pioneers in modern video gaming and we can thank it for expanding the video game industry from a passing fad, into the modern global industry it is today. In fact, game developer legend Shigeru Miyamoto considers Space Invaders as revolutionizing the games industry; he was never interested in video games until he saw it!
Space Invaders has been referenced and parodied in multiple television shows, and been a part of numerous video game and cultural exhibitions. The pixelated enemy alien icon has become a pop culture icon; indeed it is often used as a symbol to represent video games as a whole. A fitting tribute to an iconic game which will forever be a legend in gaming history.
This diorama is based on the screen and surround of the classic arcade game. The artwork is printed on high grade glossy card stock many times over, and then painstakingly precision hand cut and layered many times to create the eye popping 3D effect. Perfect for hanging or displaying on a shelf, and comes complete with hanger and stand.
Due to the handmade nature of this product, the artwork may vary slightly from piece to piece.
